We have no intention of resting on our laurels. Rather, we hope to improve and refine the magazine, with the goal of making it a completely professional publication that meets the needs of our readers. Of course, we can't do that without your help!
We want comments and constructive criticism about the format and content of the magazine, and we also invite you to submit articles for publication. Our Feature Articles as well as the "On the Horizon" column are structured so that a variety of topics can be covered under those headings. If you have a topic that you think would be of interest to our members, write an article and submit it. If it meets our editorial criteria and space requirements, we will be delighted to print it. And, of course, we are always looking for experienced paralegals to write special reports relating to the designated themes of each issue.
Our topic for this issue is Paralegals in Family Law Practice. Next to general and personal injury litigation, family law is probably the area of practice in which legal assistants are the most prevalent. In addition, family law issues will affect most of us at some point in our lives, personally, if not professionally. We hope that you will all find something of interest in this issue, even if family law is not your area of professional expertise.
We have also introduced a new semi-regular column in this issue-Member Benefit Corner. In addition to the publications you receive, there are a number of other benefits for which you are eligible as a member of the Division. In this column, we will provide information on those various benefits.
Our next issue will be out in June, 1996. The topic will be Paralegals in Pro Bono Practice. We will feature special reports on several pro bono programs around the state. If you are involved in a pro bono program in your area, please consider submitting an article for publication in the TPJ. Our goal is to make our readers aware of pro bono opportunities in their area and to encourage their participation.
1996 marks the 15th year of the LAD and the September 1996 issue will be an Anniversary issue. We would particularly like to hear from those of you who were involved with the Division in its infancy. Our profession has grown tremendously in the past 15 years and Texas has always been in the forefront of change and innovation. A look back at our roots should be not only interesting but inspiring.
