EDITOR'S COLUMN

Christine Levy, CLA

This issue of the TPJ is devoted to the general topic of litigation. It is a fact of life that many members of our profession are working in that area of the law (whether we like it or not), and it seemed only appropriate to do an issue with articles covering just a few of vast number of topics that are of interest to those of us who work in the field. I want to express a special word of thanks to Laina Bartlow who took on the task of developing the topics and soliciting the articles for this issue. I am sure you will all agree that she did a great job.

In the coming year, we will do issues devoted to areas that will be covered in the new TBLS specialty certification exams-real estate and probate. In addition, we are planning to devote the Fall 1997 magazine to the issues facing the paralegal profession in general and specifically in Texas. What can we as professionals do to enhance our status in the legal community and ensure the continued growth of the profession. The Division's Long Range Planning Committee has spent more than two years looking at these questions and developing ideas for long range goals for our profession and our organization. We hope to open up the discussion among our members with a TPJ devoted exclusively to that topic.

Finally, I would like to again encourage any of you who might be interested to write an article for publication in the TPJ. A number of you have called to discuss possible topics for articles (and that number is increasing) and the Publications Committee is very thrilled and encouraged by your interest. If you have an article you have written, an idea about an article you might like to write, or know of someone (either a paralegal or an attorney) who might have an article or would like to write one, please contact me. The quality of articles I have received has been excellent and I know there are many more of you out there who have valuable knowledge and experience that you could share. The purpose of this publication is, first and foremost, education of our members. Please help us do that by putting your knowledge down in writing. It's a lot of fun, it is exciting to see your name in print, and it helps your fellow professionals when you share your expertise!
