Betty Kirby, PLS, CLA, of Tyler, Texas, passed away Saturday, April 12, 1997 in Tyler. Betty was a Charter Director when the Legal Assistants Division was created in 1981. She was a noted speaker in the field of legal research and was employed as a legal assistant for her husband, Rex Kirby. She was the charter President-Elect of Tyler Area Association of Legal Assistants. In 1978-79, Betty served as President of the Texas Association of Legal Secretaries. Betty is survived by her husband and three sons. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tyler Area Association of Legal Professionals Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1178, Tyler, Texas 75710.
