Dear TAPS Attendee:

The TAPS Planning Committee has worked very hard to make sure you have a great event!  We have a wonderful line-up of speakers planned, fantastic socials, a great vendor hall and lots of interaction and time with your colleagues. See our schedule of events in the speaker papers link.

Please read this e-blast thoroughly because it contains all the information you will need to prepare for your attendance at TAPS.

IMPORTANT Items below:

TAPS Conference App:  You should have already received your invite to the TAPS App.  Our App this year is hosted by Whova.  Connect with other attendees, view a list of speakers, the TAPS schedule, survey the sessions and the event, and find information about your favorite vendors.  We have all NEW games this year.  The Ice Breaker Game is already in process!  We will have another game during the Wednesday social and you will need the App.  The ever popular vendor hall card is now being handled through the TAPS App!  THE ONLY WAY PARTICIPATE IN THIS GAME IS THROUGH THE APP!  To be eligible for one of four $500 Grand Prizes you will still need to visit EVERY exhibit hall booth.  During your visit at the vendor’s booth they will scan the QR Code on your name badge.  This will automatically flag you has having visited that booth.  Each attendee already has an active profile in the TAPS App, make sure your profile is up to date.  Remember TAPS would not be possible without our TAPS Sponsors and Exhibitors!

We will have staff on-site during registration to assist with downloading the App if you are having problems.  Check out the App for all the conference details.

Presentation Papers and Documents – Please download the presentations HERE.  Check back often as outstanding papers will be loaded as they are received.  You can print for your use or download to your computer NOW.  Check back before the event for revised or additional materials.  You can also place the presentations in your own Dropbox folder to view on your tablet or handheld device (we would not recommend trying to access from this link at conference).

Vendor Hall – The vendor hall hours on Thursday are from 7:00 am to 1:30 pm.  Be sure to make your way through the vendor hall, visiting each vendor, and having your name badge scanned to be eligible for one of FOUR Grand Prize drawings.  We will have a cash concession in the vendor hall on Thursday where you can purchase a quick lunch and wrap up your vendor hall visits.

Wednesday Night Social:  “Welcome to TAPS Opening Night”
The TAPS week begins with a meet and greet with your star vendors at the TAPS Tavern. Enjoy networking and mix it up with your vendors for door prizes while enjoying a few snacks and drinks.

Thursday Night Social: “A Star Studded Mystery”
You must plan to walk the red carpet and attend the quintessential whodunnit thriller at the estate of Hollywood star, Sir Warren Peace, and get thrown into a dinner party full of mystery, intrigue and murder you will never forget. Bribe suspects for clues and gather information to uncover the mystery while networking with other legal professionals. Suspects will be all around you, but some of your favorite vendors will be highly suspicious. Dress your best in evening wear or in character of a famous Hollywood movie star – this is a refined party, after all, ending with the final awards!

Friday Morning Session: The Justice Gap
Join us in the Pioneer 1/2 where Roland Johnson will discuss The Justice Gap:  Proposal for Licensed Non-Lawyers to Provide Limited Legal Services.  You will NOT want to miss this timely topic.

Friday TAPS and Paralegal Division 43rd Annual Meeting Luncheon:  “The Stars Align for the Final Bow”
We wrap up TAPS with our Annual Meeting luncheon and our guest speaker, State Bar of Texas Immediate Past President Cindy Tisdale. Ms. Tisdale will honor us with “Just Say Yes.” “Do not let fear, embarrassment, or apprehension block you from seizing the opportunities that come along. The negative “what ifs” can throw detours in your life that should not be there. Instead of “What if I lose?” or “What if I embarrass myself?” ask “What if I can make a difference?”

TAPS Charity This Year:  The Wendi Atwood Rogers Foundation.  Wendi Rogers was a former President of the Paralegal Division, but her influence went way beyond that to all aspects of her life.  This foundation carries on Wendi’s legacy by providing free mentorship education, helping with and hosting  and hosting community service projects, and giving to those that mentor, so that we may continue the work of a natural community leader, exceptional paralegal, wonderful mother and wife, and incredible mentor.

Every donation makes a difference!.  withwendi.org
