Can I change my current status to different status before the renewal process?

Members are not allowed to change their membership status during the member year.  Two types of status changes can be made during the annual renewal process that runs from May 1 – July 31.

1. Active members no longer working as a paralegal can change from Active to Emeritus.
2. Associate members who now have at least one year experience working as a paralegal and perform 80% substantive legal work can change from Associate to Active if the other criteria for Active membership are met.

Students, Subscribing, Sustaining, and existing Emeritus members can only renew for their current membership type.  Members holding any of these membership type who wish to change membership type must use the new member application process.  See the menu above: MEMBERSHIP > Applications.
